Carluccio's Dummy Run

Last week, my boyfriend and I were invited to eat at the new Carluccio's restaurant on Grey Street in Newcastle. This was a 'dummy run' evening, where the invitees acted as guinea pigs, so the staff (who were still in training) could get some practice before the grand opening; in return we got free food, so a win win situation really. There are over 70 Carluccio's restaurants in the UK (this is the first in the Tyne and Wear area) and there are also several franchises of the restaurant in Ireland and the Middle East.

Illamasqua Illuminator in Fondle: Review

Another one of the things I bought from the Illamasqua sale was the illuminator in the colour Fondle, which is a hot pink with a gold pearl. Illamasqua describe this as an "intense colour that highlights and enhances wherever it’s applied. Goes on wet but dries quickly, leaving a high-shine  reflective finish that lasts all night." They advise that you should use it on the "cheek bones and brow bones, on the cupid's bow, on the centre of the eye lid or on any other part of your body where you want to draw attention." This retails for £13.50 in the UK.

Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Electrum: Review

I treated myself to a couple of things from the Illamasqua sale (which is really good by the way and can be found here). One of the products that I bought was a Liquid Metal in the colour Electrum which is a yellowy gold; these retail for in £17.50 the UK. Illamasqua describe this product as: "A rich and highly pigmented metallic cream that grabs full attention wherever it's applied. Smooth onto eyes, face and body with fingers or a brush and prepare to take the spotlight." I don't own any products like this, so I was very intruiged to try it out.

E.L.F Waterproof Eyeliner Pen Vs. Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Liner

Hola guapas!

I hope you're enjoying the fabulous weather we are having!

I bought the E.L.F waterproof eyeliner pen a few weeks ago and I was going to do a straight up review of it. However, I bought Marie Claire yesterday, which came with a free Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid eyeliner. They are both similar products, so I thought it would be useful to do a direct comparison between the two.

Both products claim to have long-lasting colour, and to be smudge proof and fade proof. The E.L.F pen claims to be waterproof, the Eyeko one does not. I also have them in different colours, the E.L.F in Coffee (brown) and the Eyeko pen in black. The E.L.F pen costs £1.50 and I believe the Eyeko pen is £8 and the full size is £10.

E.L.F Stipple Brush: Review

A couple of weeks ago I treated myself to some products from E.L.F, including a new set of make up brushes which I have been testing out. Here is my first review on the brushes which will be about the Studio Stipple Brush which costs £3.75. Here's what E.L.F say about what the brush does:
This new antibacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush is softer and more ansorbent and can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. Studio brush! The layered bristles create a soft airbrushed look that's perfect for applying foundation or adding colour definition to cheekbones or highlighting with soft layers. Use this brush with any liquid or powder face product such as foundation, blush or bronzer to build your coverage from sheer to heavy.

Wish List!

I spend quite a lot of time pining over beauty products I can't afford. Here's some of the things I've got my eye on...

Soleil Tan de Chanel - I really like the finish cream blushers, so I want to try out a cream bronzer. I've heard really good things about this, plus it's Chanel...so I just  want it...

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer - My current concealer is very cakey and really needs to be thrown away. Apparently, this is very creamy (as the name suggests) and is a better version of the Collection 2000 concealer everyone raves about. I've never bought anything from Nars though, so i've no idea what shade to get.

Summer Favourites!

Just for the sake of variety I thought I'd tell you about some of the products I have been loving this summer. I'm steering clear of my usual smoky eye and instead applying colour to the lips and keeping everything else looking natural. Let's take a closer look.

Le Kit de Démarrage équilibrage Visible Difference de Elizabeth Arden

Salut!

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Starter Set: review

Hello there. So this is my very first skin care review, exciting stuff. I have been using this set for just over a week now so I decided to talk about my thoughts on it. This is just a little set with 4 luxury samples from the Visible Difference range. You can get different sets tailored to dry, oily or combination skin. I bought the one for combination skin because I have normal to combination skin. I get a bit oily on my t-zone, forehead and cheeks and everywhere else is normal, apart from around my nose which can get very dry. This basically includes all stages of skincare: cleansing, exfoliating, toning and moisturising.

E.L.F Illuminating Eye Shadow

This is the eye palette I got with the E.L.F Loves collection, it costs £1.50 individually, and you get 4 colours and 2.5g of product. I received the palette called Silver Lining which includes pink and blue shades. To be honest, I wasn't all that fussed about the colours when I first saw this, and I probably wouldn't have picked these shades myself. However, when I tried it out, I was really happy that I bought it, the colours were really pretty and feminine.

The colours from the website look nothing like the colours in real life though:

La Palette Lost in Time de Topshop [FRANÇAIS]

E.L.F haul

I have just received some things that I ordered from E.L.F the other day. If you don't know, E.L.F is a website that sells make up and make up accessories for a very reasonable price. This is my first order from there, but I got loads, so expect a lot of E.L.F reviews! I ordered a couple of make up brushes, because I was in dire need of some new ones and I also got the limited edition E.L.F Loves collection for free. I've checked on the website, and all of the items in the collection are available individually and aren't limited edition.

The brushes came individually wrapped in plastic wallets and there are instructions on how to use the brush on the back, which is really useful. My first impression of the brushes is good: they seem well made and really soft. I got a couple of brushes from the studio line (£3.75 each) and one from the essentials range (£1.50 each). I believe they are all synthetic brushes  and the studio brushes are made from Taklon, which is a synthetic fibre used for high quality paint and make up brushes which doesn't contain any proteins or allergens, which makes it hypoallergenic and cruelty free. Synthetic brushes are also more hygienic than animal hair brushes, because real hair has an irregular surface which traps particles which may not be removed by cleaning. Synthetic brush fibres don't have this problem, making them easier to clean.

Here's a list of the brushes I bought:-

  • Small Precision Brush
  • Contour Brush
  • Angled Eyeliner Brush
  • Eyeshadow "C" Brush
  • Powder Brush
  • Stipple Brush
  • Blending Eye Brush (essential collection)
